Nine Car Break-in, Theft Suspects Arrested in Mombasa

On June 25, 2020, police in Mombasa made a significant breakthrough in the fight against car break-ins and theft, arresting nine suspects believed to be part of a gang involved in these crimes.

The suspects, aged between 21 and 32 years, were arrested by DCI detectives in the wee hours of Thursday morning at Furaha Apartments in Nyali.

According to the DCI, several items were found during the search of the house, including several rolls of bhang, a shisha pot, a packet of shisha, Ksh.100,000 in one thousand denominations, and assorted mobile phones.

Three motor vehicles, believed to be getaway cars used by the gang during criminal operations, were also detained. The vehicles include a Toyota Allion (KCV 751S), a Toyota Mark X (KBV 161Q), and a Nissan Note (KCG 448C).

The suspects have been identified as Imran Faud Mohamed (28), Ismael Fuad Mohamed (26), Kelvin Osebe (30), Omar Safari Sanje (29), James Otieno Ochieng (32), Nancy Ekasiva Aloo (29), Julie Saida Magdalene (22), Brenda Juma (21), and Hamoud Mohamed Hamisi (30).

The suspects have been placed in police custody as further investigations continue.
