A devastating fire at Gikomba market has destroyed several structures, leaving traders with significant losses.

The fire, which started at around 2am on Thursday, has caused severe damage to the cereals and mitumba sections of the market.

According to reports, the fire was brought under control by firefighters, but not before property of unknown value was destroyed.

Traders were left rummaging through the charred remains, searching for anything that had been spared by the inferno.

Earlier this year, another fire was reported at the market, causing further damage and prompting City Hall to commence investigations.

The several fire incidents at the popular market have caused severe damage over the years, sometimes leading to fatalities and injuries.
