On June 23, 2020, a 42-year-old man, Munala, checked into Amazon Hotel in Kakamega town with a 31-year-old woman, Anyango, from Siaya county.
According to Officer Commanding Kakamega Central Police Division, David Kabena, the couple ordered dinner before leaving for their room, but only the woman ate.
On the following morning, Anyango alerted the lodging management of the incident, and police officers were called in.
Records at the facility showed that Anyango had checked in on the afternoon of June 23 and booked a room at the hotel where they spent the night.
However, the blissful moment took an ugly twist when Anyango found Munala unresponsive and unable to wake up to prepare for breakfast.
The distraught woman then stormed out of the room and informed one of the managers, who called in police officers.
The officers took the body to Kakamega County Teaching and Referral Hospital morgue for a postmortem, which revealed that Munala died from a heart attack.
It was later discovered that Munala was married and had a family.
