Kenya's motor vehicle industry has been severely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, with new vehicle sales plummeting in May.

According to a report by the Kenya Motor Industry Association (KMIA), a total of 568 vehicles were sold last month, down from 594 in April and 846 in March.

Isuzu led the pack in the number of sales, with 432 units sold in May, followed by Toyota with 120 units and Mitsubishi with 72 units.

Despite the decline, luxury brands such as BMW and Mercedes Benz maintained their sales numbers.

Interestingly, completely knocked down units surpassed fully built units as the highest selling units in May.
