On June 25, 2020, Stanbic Bank's DADA initiative made a significant contribution to Kisumu County's COVID-19 response by handing over 20 handwashing stations to the community.

As part of its efforts to combat the spread of COVID-19, Stanbic Bank had earlier announced an investment of approximately KES 3 million in 700 sanitation stations, which would be distributed across the country through Rotary District 9212.

The handwashing stations, which are estimated to facilitate at least 1000 washes per day, will play a crucial role in preventing the spread of the virus, particularly in vulnerable communities that have been disproportionately affected by the pandemic.

Speaking at the handover, Kisumu branch manager David Wasamba emphasized the importance of handwashing in preventing the spread of COVID-19, stating, "It is our hope that the sanitation stations will play a significant role in preventing the rate of infections and stop the spread of the COVID-19. Long term, we hope it will instil the behaviour change and increase levels of hygiene and sanitation."

Stanbic Bank's efforts to combat COVID-19 have surpassed KES 150 million, making it one of the boldest strategic investments in Kenya's private sector. The bank has partnered with various organizations, including Base Titanium, Centum Investment Plc, Africapractice, and Valaar, to provide oxygen therapy devices and other interventions to support Kenya's COVID-19 response.
