On June 25, 2020, a devastating fire swept through the Dawn market in Gikomba, Nairobi, leaving a trail of destruction and financial losses for local traders.
The inferno, which occurred at around 10:00 AM, destroyed a significant portion of the market, resulting in huge losses for the traders who had their goods and property destroyed.
According to eyewitnesses, the fire started at one of the stalls and quickly spread to other parts of the market, fueled by strong winds and the largely wooden structure of the market.
