On Friday, the Senate will convene a special sitting to consider the report of the eleven-member committee investigating allegations against Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru.
The committee, led by Senator Cleophas Malala, has been investigating claims of gross misconduct, violating the constitution, and conferring a benefit of Sh10 million to herself.
Waiguru's defense counsel, led by senior counsel Paul Nyamodi, has presented witnesses to counter the allegations, including Kirinyaga County's Procurement Chief Joseph Otieno and Nominated Jubilee Kirinyaga Member of County Assembly Kepha Muriuki.
However, the County Secretary, Joe Muriuki, has defended Waiguru against accusations that she had crippled health services in the county.
Waiguru denies all the charges levelled against her, and her fate will be decided by the Senate, which requires the backing of six Senators to survive the impeachment.
