On June 25, 2020, Harambee Sacco took a significant step towards digitizing its services by launching instant ATM debit cards for its members. The move, in partnership with Co-operative Bank, will enable the Sacco's 73,000 members to access financial services across the bank's ATMs across the country.
Previously, members had to wait for 21 days to receive their cards, but with the new instant card issuance, they can now access their funds immediately. Harambee Sacco Chairman Macloud Malonza hailed the launch as 'timely and overdue', saying it will greatly enhance convenience for members.
Principal Secretary for Co-operatives Ali Noor lauded the move and urged other Saccos to align their services with the latest technology. Director of Cooperatives Banking at Co-op Bank Vincent Marangu also announced that the new solution will be rolled out to all Saccos that provide Visa debit cards.
With this launch, Harambee Sacco is set to become the first Sacco to offer instant ATM services, marking a significant milestone in the digitization of its services.
