Music Industry 'Demonic', Says Kenyan Singer Vivianne ¶
Just days after Tanzanian singer-songwriter Vanessa Mdee blasted the entertainment industry for hypocrisy, Kenyan singer Vivianne has come out to confirm the claims.
According to Vivianne, the music industry is 'demonic' and can drive artists into depression and substance abuse.
She commended Vanessa Mdee for being vulnerable and honest about her journey, saying 'I appreciate @vanessamdee very much for being vulnerable and honest about her journey.'
However, Vivianne emphasized that the industry's pressure and hypocrisy can be overwhelming, saying 'I love to make music but the pressure and the hypocrisy will drive you into depression or substance abuse that’s for sure.'
She also called on fellow female artistes to stand in solidarity and be ambassadors of truth and love, saying 'I’d like to appeal especially to my female counterparts in entertainment to extend grace to one another and be ambassadors of truth and love.'
Vanessa Mdee had recently declared she had had enough and called it quits in an industry that did not accept her as she was, neither supported her dreams.
She had also spoken about her long battle with alcoholism, saying 'I love to make music but the pressure and the hypocrisy will drive you into depression or substance abuse that’s for sure.'
Her claims were met with support from Vivianne, who said 'Truth is she is a ball of fire and one of the best entertainers hands down.'
She also shared a message of solidarity with fellow female artistes, saying 'I know for sure everyone has their own unique journey. But as much as possible we have to be able to stand in solidarity when it comes to the truth.'
