On June 24, 2020, ABSA Bank Kenya made a significant move in its growth strategy by appointing Charles Njenga Murito as its independent non-executive director.
According to a statement by Charles Munene, the board chairperson, Murito will take up his new duties immediately.
"I am pleased to announce the appointment of Charles Njenga Murito as Independent Non-Executive director in Absa Bank Kenya Plc with effect from 24 June 2020," said Munene.
Murito, who is currently the government affairs and public policy director for Sub-Saharan Africa at Google, brings a wealth of experience in technology, innovation, and data to the role.
He holds an MBA in Entertainment Business and Finance from Cass Business School, City University, UK, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and Management from Woodbury University in California.
As the bank's new independent non-executive director, Murito will be expected to steer the bank's growth strategy, leveraging his expertise in technology, innovation, and data.
