On June 23, 2020, Suna East MP Junet Mohammed made a telling statement in parliament, reflecting on the ouster of Aden Duale as Majority Leader.
Junet's words were a clear warning to his colleagues, particularly Kipipiri MP Amos Kimunya, who had recently taken over as Majority Leader.
Speaking after Duale's exit speech, Junet said, "As for Duale, when you see us following Baba like cows, it is because we fear the consequences like what you are facing today."
He added that politics is a delicate game, where those who go against the wishes of party leaders face severe consequences.
Junet's comments were a clear indication that he would be more loyal to Raila Odinga, the party leader, to avoid a similar fate.
Junet also took a dig at Kimunya, advising him not to repeat Duale's remarks on death, saying, "This work of politics is very difficult and when the going gets tough don’t die. Remain strong, don’t say you’d rather die than resign. Please don’t die, we shall support you..dying is the worse thing that can happen.."
