Kenyan-born comedian Njambi McGrath has made waves in the UK comedy scene, and her debut novel 'Through the Leopard's Gaze' has now been picked up for a TV show production by Expectation, a multi-genre independent production company based in West London.

On June 24, 2020, Njambi confirmed that Expectation had optioned her book, with the production company announcing plans to transform it into a six-part comedy/drama series.

Expectation is backed by BBC Studios and has a track record of producing award-winning content, including the BAFTA-Award winning show 'In My Skin.'

Njambi's book is a raw and powerful memoir that traces her journey from her upbringing in Kenya to her life in London.

Described by the BBC as 'the Kenyan comic making Brits laugh at themselves,' Njambi has become one of the hottest female comedians in the UK, known for her no-holds-barred style of comedy that leaves none of her subjects safe, including her own family.

Expectation's Charlie Leech will head the project alongside Nerys Evans, who has worked with Njambi on her comedy career.

Njambi's career has taken off since she started out as an employee at an IT firm and later moved on to teaching childbirth classes. She only delved into stand-up comedy when one of her students told her how funny she was.

Her career has since taken off, with her being chosen as New Act of the Year at the Hackney Empire in February 2019.
