On June 24, 2020, a shocking incident occurred at Naivasha Maximum Prison, where a notorious criminal was mistakenly released due to a mix-up with an inmate's name.
The suspect, Peter Kamau Ngige, was arrested for robbery with violence, but was mistakenly released because he shared a name with another inmate who was arrested for an alcohol-related violation.
Prison officials claimed that the mistake was due to a clerical error, but Kenyans were quick to point out the incompetence of the prison administrators.
'How could a file with errors be processed?' one Kenyan wondered.
'It's surprising that Peter Ngige was able to bypass all security measures in a maximum prison and secure his release,' another Kenyan asked in disbelief.
Naivasha residents are now on high alert, fearing that the released suspect may cause more trouble in the area.
