On June 24, 2020, Interior PS Karanja Kibicho issued a statement denying any involvement in a fake arms deal that was published in a local daily.

According to Kibicho, the story 'Mystery of another mega fake arms deal involving city lawyer' claimed that documents from the Interior Ministry were used in the fake deal.

However, Kibicho clarified that the Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government has never been aware of the fake tender and condemned fraudulent actions.

'The Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government hereby clarifies that it has never been aware of, nor involved nor propositioned the above fake tender,' Kibicho stated.

He further emphasized that procurement in government is an open and transparent process, devoid of intermediaries, and that the Ministry's budget is in the public domain.
