Uganda's Dennis Onyango Seeks KSh 100 Million from Museveni

Published on June 24, 2020

Uganda national team captain Dennis Onyango has taken to social media to remind President Yoweri Museveni of his KSh 100 million pledge to the team for their impressive performance in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

Onyango, in a Twitter post, shared a video of the President making the pledge along with a distress message, stating that the team is 'hurting' and that the President should intervene to fulfill his promise.

President Museveni had vowed to reward the national side with a 'small token' of KSh 100 million ($1m) if they put up a solid performance in the competition, which they did by advancing to the last 16.

However, the team was eliminated in the round of 16 by Sadio Mane's Senegal, who beat them 2-0.

Onyango's post has sparked a call to action, with many urging the President to fulfill his promise and provide the team with the promised reward.
