On Wednesday, Mwangi Kiunjuri unveiled 'The Service Party (TSP)', a new political outfit with the slogan 'Huduma-Twajiamini' (service-believe) and a red heart symbol.

Speaking to reporters, Kiunjuri, who was sacked by President Uhuru Kenyatta as Agriculture Cabinet Secretary in January, said the party will focus on service delivery ahead of the 2022 General Elections.

His move comes amid speculation that his close association with Deputy President William Ruto may have contributed to his ouster from the Cabinet.

When asked about his ties with Ruto, Kiunjuri said, 'I never betray my friends.'

The party plans to open offices countrywide ahead of an intended launch later this year, paving the way for grassroots elections.

Former Kiambu County Assembly Executive Karungo Thangwa described the party as 'the party of the silent majority', adding, 'We have a big heart. We are open to all.'
