On a fateful day in 2020, Kenyan rapper Prezzo narrowly escaped death after being shot in the head by a group of armed carjackers in Kileleshwa, Nairobi.

According to Prezzo, the incident occurred after he had visited his mother's place, where he had gifted her beautiful flower vases for Mother's Day. Before leaving, his mother prayed with him and asked God to protect him.

As they were about to leave, a car hit them from behind, and four thugs emerged with guns. The thugs drove Prezzo and his friend to town, beating them with the butt of the gun as they tried to negotiate.

Prezzo attempted to reason with the thugs, claiming his jewelry was worth Sh 3 million and his phone was worth $5000. However, one of the captors turned around and shot him straight to the head.

"I don't know if you can see it (pointing to the scar at the top of his scalp), but luckily God wasn't done with me yet because there is no way you can miss a shot at that close range. You know when you shoot there is a kick and so that kick cut my skin... so my skin was open," Prezzo recalled.

Despite being shot, Prezzo managed to escape and was left near a gas station in Buru Buru, where he and his friend got a taxi to Nairobi Hospital.
