Safaricom, Kenya's leading telecommunication company, has announced a planned maintenance for its M-Pesa services. The maintenance is scheduled to take place between 12am to 5am on Thursday, June 25.
According to a statement released by Safaricom on Wednesday, June 24, all M-Pesa services, including airtime purchase, will be temporarily unavailable during the maintenance period.
"The timing of this maintenance activity has been planned to result in the least of inconvenience to our customers," the statement reads.
"We apologise for any inconvenience that may be caused and thank you for your continued support," Safaricom added.
It's worth noting that this is not the first time Safaricom has announced similar service interruptions to upgrade its M-Pesa systems. The regular maintenance is aimed at upgrading security levels to protect customer data from theft by fraudsters.
