On June 24, 2020, Kenya's COVID-19 case-load surpassed 5,000 after 254 new cases were reported, according to Health CAS Dr. Mercy Mwangangi.
The new infections were discovered in 4,859 samples tested between Tuesday and Wednesday, with 186 of the new patients being male and 68 female.
Dr. Mwangangi announced the new cases while addressing journalists at Afya House in Nairobi, noting that all the new cases were recorded among Kenyans.
Nairobi led the regions with 127 cases, followed by Mombasa with 36 cases, Migori with 29 cases, and Kajiado with 22 cases.
Forty-one more COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospitals across the country, bringing the total number of recoveries in Kenya to 1,823.
Two more people succumbed to the disease, pushing the country's death toll to 130, said Dr. Mwangangi.
Kenya has thus far tested 151,396 samples for COVID-19.
