On June 24, 2020, former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri resurfaced in the Kenyan political scene with the launch of his new party, The Service Party of Kenya (TSP).

According to Kiunjuri, TSP aims to be a grassroots national party that prioritizes the interests of ordinary citizens. The party's main focus will be on addressing pressing issues such as food insecurity, unemployment, and poor access to basic necessities like healthcare and clean water.

“TSP members and officials have carefully listened to Kenyans and have made the commitment to bring a platform that will be unequivocal about service delivery to our people. The Service Party of Kenya wants to be a grassroots national party that will not only be the voice of wananchi wa kawaida but also that will approach politics differently,” the ex-cs said while launching the party in Nairobi.

Kiunjuri emphasized that TSP's primary goal is to push the government to provide interventions on the adverse effects of COVID-19 before any political agenda. He also expressed optimism that Kenya will undergo significant changes over the next decade, and TSP aims to ensure that these changes are fair, inclusive, and sustainable.
