On June 24, 2020, a clever but ultimately doomed plan to smuggle bhang in gas cylinders was foiled by a multi-agency team in Kenya.

According to reports, the peddlers had been using the cylinders to transport their illicit drug from one town to another, evading authorities in the process.

However, their fortieth day came before they expected, as a member of the public reported a suspicious smell emanating from a gas container, prompting the police to investigate.

Upon splitting the container open, the law enforcement officers made the shocking discovery of lots of kilograms of bhang, whose value was not immediately established.

The bust is a significant blow to the bhang peddling business, and it remains to be seen how this will impact the illicit trade in Kenya.
