Published on June 24, 2020, Naivasha police are on the hunt for a cunning robbery suspect who managed to secure his release from prison through deceit.

Peter Kamau Ngige, a suspect in a robbery with violence case, was mistakenly released after he posed as another inmate with a similar name during a court process.

The suspect had been arrested for a series of highway robberies, including hijacking a Nairobi-bound matatu and robbing commuters at gunpoint in 2018.

Naivasha Sub-County Police Commander Samuel Waweru confirmed the disappearance of the suspect, stating that they are working to apprehend him.

“During the video conferencing process, the robbery with violence suspect posed as the illicit liquor remandee, deceitfully gaining his freedom after he was set free,” said our source.

Waweru added that they have officers trailing the suspect and hope to arrest him soon.
