Published on June 24, 2020, allegations have surfaced in Kakamega County that powerful forces are working to stop the prosecution of County Secretary Jacinta Aluoch.
Aluoch is facing charges related to death threats against several county employees, including Beatrice Saban, a county executive committee member, and Joshua Ketukha, an accounting officer.
According to sources, Aluoch was expected to appear in court last week but the Director of Public Prosecutions ordered the file returned to Nairobi for further review.
Aluoch is also accused of abusing her office by paying allowances and benefits to her driver and two armed bodyguards, who were found on the county payroll despite not being employed by the county.
The case has sparked an infighting between the Ethics Anti-Corruption Commission and the DCI, with some powerful forces at the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) allegedly opposed to her prosecution.
Aluoch was arrested on June 11 and released on a Sh100,000 bond.
