On June 24, 2020, Oracle and Equity Group Foundation launched a comprehensive digital skills initiative for Kenyan students, aiming to equip them with the necessary IT skills in demand across various industries.
The three-year initiative will provide customised upskilling workshops focusing on technology and business skills, delivered by Oracle experts and specialists from the Equity Leaders Program (ELP).
Under this initiative, top-performing Kenyan students selected by their leadership program will participate in online workshops covering key emerging technologies, including computing, storage, database development, data management, app development, platform integration, security, analytics, and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solutions.
According to David Bunei, Managing Director at Oracle Kenya and Cloud Sales Director, "Kenya's digital potential is untapped, and the creation of a digitally skilled workforce is imperative to unlock this potential. Our collaboration with the Equity Group Foundation is yet another initiative to support the youth in Africa. We encourage Kenyan students to make the most of this opportunity."
Reuben Mbindu, Executive Director, Equity Group Foundation, added, "Our partnership with Oracle enables us to further empower the Kenyan youth with specialised skills and know-how, supporting the ongoing transformation of our country alongside the Big 4 Agenda."
