Twitter Feud Between Murkomen and Raila Odinga Jr

June 24, 2020

Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen and Raila Junior Odinga have been engaged in a heated Twitter spat over a tweet written by the senator in 2017.

Murkomen had mocked Raila's then imminent swearing-in as the people's president in a tweet from 2017. Raila Junior reminded Murkomen of a tweet by a netizen identified as Ben Baimwera, who had responded to him saying his words would come back to haunt him in the future.

Junior told Murkomen that the internet never forgets, and that his words would indeed come back to haunt him. Murkomen, however, clapped back, asking Junior to tag his father, Raila Odinga, and State House instead.

Junior's tweet read: 'It's said power is sweet, the profound words Ben Baimwera are coming to haunt Kipchumba Murkomen.'

Murkomen responded by saying: 'Makes more sense if you tag @RailaOdinga & @StateHouseKenya. Remember that if the right path to leadership is the one established by your father then I am walking in a path well trodden. At My age your dad was not yet MP. I was just doing my job, you, relax things will change again.'

Murkomen was ousted as leader of majority in the Senate on Monday, May 11, in a PG meeting held at State House, Nairobi. He was replaced by West Pokot Senator Samuel Poghisio, a Kanu member.
