On June 24, 2020, Tanzanian songstress Vanessa Mdee took to her YouTube channel to address the growing speculation about her pregnancy. Fans had been asking when her baby was due, but Mdee revealed that she is not yet expecting.
“Watu wanauliza vipi kuhusu mtoto. No, sina mimba bado. Not yet. But soon,” she said during the live Q&A session.
Just days before, Mdee had announced her decision to leave the music industry, citing its 'very demonic' nature. In a podcast episode of 'Deep Dive with Vanessa Mdee', she explained that she had chosen to leave the industry to focus on her life and values.
“I don’t know who needs to hear this, but my mission is to be a light. I know that I would probably disappoint a few people and that’s okay... The reason why I had to leave the industry is that I needed to choose my life, the music industry is demonic,” she said.
