On June 24, 2020, a ruling on whether to terminate ethnic contempt charges against Narok Senator Ledama ole Kina was deferred until next Monday.
Chief Magistrate Martha Mutuku was scheduled to deliver the ruling but was attending a court users meeting, bringing together all magistrates and judges.
Narok Senator Ledama ole Kina has refused to take a plea in the case, citing a defective charge sheet.
His lawyers, George Wajackoya and Omwanza Ombati, asked the court not to allow the plea taking, which the Directorate of Public Prosecutions described as being brought in bad faith.
The case stems from remarks ole Kina allegedly made on a TV interview on February 19, which were said to incite feelings of discrimination against non-Maas.
