Arizona Police Chief Contracts COVID-19 After Opposing Lockdown

Mark Lamb, the police chief in Arizona, has tested positive for COVID-19, just weeks after he went against the lockdown operation in his state.

On May 7, Lamb argued that a few hundred casualties were not enough justification to bring the economy down, sparking controversy over his stance on the lockdown.

Arizona is one of the American states with the highest cases of the virus since the beginning of the pandemic, with over 40,000 confirmed cases and over 1,800 new cases reported on June 17, the day Lamb announced his positive test result.

As of June 17, the Arizona state had recorded over 1,200 deaths from the virus since the pandemic started.

Lamb had previously stated that he would not 'criminally' enforce the lockdown order, instead opting to talk to people about following the order.

His decision to oppose the lockdown has now come back to haunt him, with Lamb contracting the virus just weeks after speaking out against the measures.
