On June 24, 2020, Avenir Telecom, a French phone manufacturer, marked its entry into the Kenyan market through a partnership with Nairobi-based Vivus Techno Ltd.

According to Daniel Kiplimo, head of sales at Vivus Techno, the company was chosen as the local representative to sell and offer after-sales services for Avenir's Energizer mobile phones.

The initial product lineup includes low-end phones priced between Sh1,200 and Sh5,000, as well as high-end phone cordless chargers and power banks.

Avenir, which has been in the mobile telephony and laptop manufacturing business for 30 years, has tasked Vivus Techno with marketing its products in East Africa.

"The entry of Avenir Telecom into the Kenyan market is a significant step in the growth of Energizer Mobile in Africa," said Mr. Kiplimo.

"The French-based brand offers a range of products, including low-cost 6,000mAh battery smartphones, rugged devices, and KaiOS-powered feature phones," he added.

Avenir has a strong presence in the Middle East and Europe, with products sold in over 140 countries. The company has identified Kenya, Egypt, and South Africa as its next target markets.
