Published on June 23, 2020, Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria, a vocal Tanga Tanga MP, has declared that Parliament is dead.

According to Kuria, the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga led to the collapse of the once-respected House, which is no longer playing its oversight role as expected.

In a tweet on June 23, 2020, Kuria stated that all bills and motions were now being moved by Kipipiri MP Amos Kimunya and seconded by John Mbadi.

"It's official. The National Assembly is dead. All bills and motions moved by Amos Kimunya and seconded by John Mbadi. Justin Muturi is the mortician. It's over guys," Kuria complained.

Reactions to Kuria's remarks included comments from Charles Dienya, who suggested that Kuria should resign from Parliament if it is indeed dead, and Bashir, who stated that Kuria and other Jubilee MPs had previously used unconstitutional bills to pass legislation.

President Uhuru Kenyatta had previously taken control of the National Assembly and the Senate after de-whipping Deputy President William Ruto's allies over alleged insubordination.

The latest casualty was Garissa Town MP Aden Duale, who had served as majority leader for seven years since 2013.
