On Tuesday, 23 June 2020, Likoni Member of Parliament Mishi Mboko addressed claims that Mombasa County Governor Ali Hassan Joho is planning to exit the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party.

Speaking outside the Parliament building, Mishi clarified that Joho remains a member of ODM, contradicting online reports suggesting otherwise.

"There have been numerous reports on social media, and we are seeing a lot of propaganda about Ali Hassan Joho," Mishi stated. "I want to set the record straight that Joho cannot leave ODM in his political career."

She emphasized that Joho's loyalty lies with Raila Odinga and Uhuru Kenyatta, and that he will remain under their leadership, especially with the current handshake between the two.

Mishi further assured that Joho's future political ambitions are rooted in the ODM party, dismissing claims that he might be influenced to join another coalition.

However, Joho's next move remains unclear, as he is not eligible to vie for the gubernatorial seat after serving two consecutive terms.
