June 23, 2020 - Nairobi, Kenya - Former Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero has filed an appeal against the High Court's decision allowing the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) to search his offices and homes over unexplained Sh 9 billion wealth.

According to Kidero's lawyers, the politician claims that the High Court Judge Mumbi Ngugi misdirected herself and demonstrated bias by insinuating that he was already guilty of being in possession of corruptly acquired assets.

Kidero argues that the judge erred in fact and law by failing to consider that no factual or legal determination had ever been made regarding possession of corruptly acquired public properties.

He also contends that under the law, there exists the presumption of innocence until proven guilty, and that the search warrants issued by the EACC on September 19, 2018, were vague, open-ended and prone to abuse.
