On June 19, a man allegedly drove through Gate D at State House in Nairobi in a bid to seek an audience with President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Luqman Ali Mahmmoud was charged on June 23 at the Milimani Law Courts with creating a disturbance.

According to court records, when asked why he attempted to enter State House, Mahmmoud stated, “I wanted to speak to President Uhuru Kenyatta on how to worship Allah.”

Security officers, including Police Constable Duncan Orero, Police Constable Winston Abwawo, and Corporal Alex Sirongo, who were manning the gate, tried to stop Mahmmoud for inspection, but he sped past them.

The officers opened fire and shot at Mahmmoud's Volkswagen Polo's tyres in an attempt to make him stop.

On June 25, the magistrate ordered that a mental evaluation test be conducted to establish that Mahmmoud was fit to stand trial.

On June 26, the court was informed that Mahmmoud would be presented for a report after being sent to Mathari Hospital.

State House has been a protected area since June 2019, when an intruder tried to trespass into the premises.
