On March 30, 2020, a tragic incident occurred in Huruma, Nairobi, where a 13-year-old KCPE candidate, Yassin Hussein Moyo, was shot dead by a police officer while standing on the balcony of his family's residence.

Police Constable Duncan Ndiema Ndiwah, alias Champs, has been charged with the murder of Yassin. However, when he appeared before Justice Luka Kimaru, he denied the charges.

Justice Kimaru asked the state prosecutor, Gikui Gichuhi, if she was opposing the release of the accused on bond. Ms. Gichuhi stated, 'I will be opposing the release of the suspect on bond.'

The defence team, led by Danstan Omari, had filed an application seeking the release of the suspect on bond. Mr. Omari told the judge, 'I have already filed the court papers seeking to secure the release of the accused on bond.'

However, the state prosecutor required a day to prepare, as she was waiting for some documents from the investigating team. The accused was detained at the Capital Hill Police Station for a day before appearing in court on Wednesday to argue for his release on bond.
