On June 19, 2020, Luqman Ali Mahmmoud allegedly drove past Gate D at State House in Nairobi, seeking an audience with President Uhuru Kenyatta.

According to court records, Mahmmoud was stopped by security officers but sped past them at breakneck speed, prompting the Presidential guards to puncture the tyres of his Volkswagen Polo.

On June 23, 2020, Mahmmoud appeared before Senior Principal Magistrate Kennedy Cheruiyot at the Milimani law courts, where he admitted to creating disturbance and entering a protected area.

However, the magistrate found Mahmmoud's plea of guilty 'unequivocal' and changed it to a plea of not guilty.

As a result, the magistrate ordered a psychiatrist report to establish Mahmmoud's mental status before proceeding with the case.

According to the state prosecutor, Mahmmoud will be escorted to Mathari Hospital by Thursday, June 25, 2020, for examination, with a report to be filed in court on Friday, June 26, 2020.

Mr. Cheruiyot directed Mahmmoud to be remanded until Friday, June 26, 2020, when he will be produced in court for further directions.
