On June 23, 2020, Atalanta confirmed the signing of Mario Pasalic from Chelsea on a permanent deal, marking the end of a two-season loan stint.
The 25-year-old Croatian midfielder had spent the past two seasons on loan with the Italian side, scoring 15 goals in 74 appearances.
Chelsea have pocketed £13.5 million for Pasalic, who never played a single match in his six years at the club.
Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed that a massive £13.5 million will go to the Blues, while Croatian side Hadjuk Split will receive £3 million.
Atalanta's decision to make Pasalic's loan deal permanent comes after he helped the club secure a third-place finish and Champions League football in his first campaign.
Before joining Atalanta, Pasalic had loan spells with Elche, Monaco, AC Milan, and Spartak Moscow, but it was his breakthrough spell with Atalanta that earned him a permanent deal.
Interestingly, Pasalic signed a new deal at Stamford Bridge last season until 2022 in a bid to earn a bumper deal from a potential buyer.
