Wahu Mathenge, a renowned Kenyan Gospel artiste, has shared her inspiring story of overcoming self-doubt and insecurities that plagued her as a teenager.
Published on June 23, 2020, Wahu took to her social media to share her heartfelt message, urging young girls and people in general to focus on self-love and self-acceptance.
She wrote, 'As a teenager and into my early twenties, I had terrible self-esteem issues. I felt ugly, unintelligent and unworthy of being loved. I never thought I’d amount to anything much in life.'
However, Wahu's life took a dramatic turn when she discovered the unconditional love of God. She shared, 'I wish I could go back in time and tell 17-year-old Wahu that everything’s gonna be more than OK. That God is on her side and she will overcome.'
Wahu's message resonated with many, including other celebrities who have spoken out about their own insecurities. Awinja, Muthoni Mukiri, Mercy Masika, and Rue Baby have all shared their struggles with self-doubt and body image issues.
Wahu's story serves as a powerful reminder that self-love and self-acceptance are the keys to overcoming insecurities. As she so eloquently put it, 'God's got you young girl... God's got you young man. And there’s nothing like being worthy of God’s love.'
