Maureen Achieng, popularly known as Lady Maureen, has been struggling with an illness since 2018, forcing her to be in and out of hospitals.
Her mother, Margaret Akinyi, has now come out to assure Kenyans that her daughter is in a stable condition and recovering well at home.
Speaking to the press, Akinyi said, "My daughter is sick but she is in a stable condition and is recovering at home. The world should know that. Although my daughter is sick, she is okay,"
Early this year, several artists, including Akothe, started a campaign to offset Lady Maureen's hospital bills and build her a house.
However, the musician's health started deteriorating two years ago, and she has since been seeking help from various hospitals, including Pastor Machage Memorial Hospital in Migori and Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital.
On February 20, Lady Maureen was discharged from Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital after being transferred from a hospital in Migori, where she was admitted early this year.
According to Dr. Peter Okoth, the Medical Superintendent of Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital, Lady Maureen was discharged because she "was responding well to medication and was getting stable."
However, Lady Maureen was stuck in the hospital for five days due to an unresolved family dispute with her mother.
Two months prior to her illness, Lady Maureen was arrested and jailed for nine days in Mwanza, Tanzania, for allegedly working in that country without permits.
Her mother, Margaret Akinyi, has urged Kenyans to pray for her daughter's recovery so that she can start entertaining her fans again.
