Kenya: High Court Remands Police Officer Charged With Killing Yassin Moyo

On June 23, 2020, the High Court ordered that police officer Duncan Ndiwah, charged with killing a Standard Eight pupil Yassin Hussein Moyo, be remanded at Capitol Hill Police Station until Wednesday for bail application.

Justice Luka Kimaru directed lawyer Danstan Omari to file and serve the bail application before 1pm on Tuesday.

Mr. Ndiwah denied shooting and killing Moyo on March 30, 2020, but will remain in police custody until his bail application is heard and determined.

State Prosecutor Gikui Hichuhi informed Justice Kimaru that the Director of Public Prosecutions would be opposing his release on bond.

Mr. Ndiwah had skipped court last Friday to undergo a Covid-19 test at the Mbagathi Hospital, but was later examined at the Aga Khan University Hospital where he tested negative.
