As of June 21, 2020, Kenyans had donated Sh106,532 to the family of James Muriithi, a man who was allegedly shot dead by police in Mathare slums on June 1.

Investigative journalist John Allan Namu shared the post, stating that the money would help late James Muriithi's widow, Christine, educate her three children who are still in school.

On Father's Day, Human Rights Activist Boniface Mwangi and Namu appealed to Kenyans to help the widow whose husband was allegedly killed by police officers enforcing curfew orders.

“Remember the man that was shot dead by police in Mathare; his name was James Muriithi. He was a husband and a father of three. On this #FathersDay stand by his Widow and support her, Christine Mumbua: 0725156230, M-Pesa her what you can. Thank you. #HowICare @johnallannamu,” Mwangi tweeted.

Christine's children are in form four, form 3, and class 7, and without a father, they will need lots of support. Stand in the gap for the late James Muriithi this #FathersDay.
