Published on June 23, 2020, Huawei Y8p and Y6p, two new smartphones from the Chinese device maker, are now available for purchase in Kenya.
The Huawei Y8p, priced at Kshs 25,000, boasts a 6.3-inch Full HD OLED display, 5GHz Wi-Fi connectivity, and NFC for easy pairing with wearables and accessories. In contrast, the Huawei Y6p, priced at Kshs 15,000, features a similar size HD LCD panel and a large 5,000mAh battery unit.
According to Huawei, the Y6p's battery can provide up to 32 hours of video playback or 20 hours of Internet surfing on a single charge.
Both devices come with Huawei's AppGallery app store, but lack out-of-the-box support for Google's Play Store. Users can, however, download apps from third-party stores and repositories.
The Huawei Y8p and Y6p are available for purchase online through Jumia Kenya and offline through physical retail shops across the country. Buyers of either device in physical shops will receive a free Bluetooth headset as a gift.
