On June 23, 2020, the Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji announced the arrest and prosecution of six top officials of the Kenya School of Law, following an investigation by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).

The officials, led by Chief Executive Officer Professor Morris Kiwinda Mbondenyi, allegedly colluded to have Sh198 million paid out to companies owned by some of the employees, in an elaborate scheme to show that goods were delivered.

According to the EACC investigation report, the fraud was perpetrated by bank signatories to the Kenya School of Law accounts, who were senior employees at the institution's Finance Department. The report also established that the firms involved were not pre-qualified at the institution and that there was a conflict of interest.

"The Kenya School of Law lost Sh198,441,030 to business entities registered in the names of senior employees of the school," the DPP said.

The investigation had been ongoing since May 2019.
