Renowned Ohangla musician Maureen Achieng' Otiu, popularly known as Lady Maureen, has been at the center of death rumors that circulated on social media in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
However, her mother Margaret Akinyi has confirmed that her daughter is alive and well, dispelling the false rumors.
According to Margaret, Lady Maureen is currently in Kenya, contrary to previous reports that she was receiving treatment at a hospital in Mwanza, Tanzania.
‘Watu wamepost ameaga na bado mtu ako mzima. Nashindwa ni nini inaendea? She’s alive and not dead. She is at home recuperating and most of the time she finds it difficult to speak on the phone for a long time so people contact me.’ – Lady Maureen’s mother Margaret Akinyi
Lady Maureen has been ailing for the last two years and has been in and out of hospital. Her friend Nancy Achieng previously stated that the musician’s mother was reluctant to take her in due to a family misunderstanding.
Despite the challenges she has faced, Lady Maureen has shown resilience and has given updates on her health condition in the past. In January this year, she gave an update on her health, allaying fears that she was in critical condition.
She was admitted at Pastor Machage Memorial Hospital in Migori County and was diagnosed with a severe stomach infection. She expressed her gratitude for the support she received from well-wishers, including singer Akothee.
