On June 22, Flora Mwendwa's life took a dramatic turn when her son-in-law, who lives and works in Nairobi, arrived at her home in Isembe Village, Indangalasia area, Lurambi Constituency, Kakamega County.

According to Mwendwa, her son-in-law was accompanied by his brother, and they were warmly welcomed into the house.

However, the warm welcome turned into a nightmare when Mwendwa's son-in-law descended on her with punches and kicks, snatching her 2-year-old granddaughter from her.

The victim sustained head and neck injuries and was treated at a nearby health facility before filing a report at Emukaba Police Station.

As the police investigation continues, Mwendwa has urged the authorities to arrest her son-in-law for causing grievous bodily harm to her and for breaching COVID-19 containment measures by traveling from Nairobi to Kakamega during the pandemic.
