On June 22, 2020, Kenya marked a significant milestone in its fight against COVID-19 with the discharge of 73 patients from various health facilities across the country.
According to Health Chief Administrative Secretary Dr. Mercy Mwangangi, the total number of recoveries has now reached 1,680, while the number of fatalities has increased to 125 following the loss of two patients to the disease.
Dr. Mwangangi emphasized the importance of behavior change among Kenyans, stating that each individual is a 'social vaccine' for coronavirus.
Kenya recorded 59 new cases of COVID-19 on June 22, bringing the national tally to 4,797. The new cases were confirmed from 2,354 samples tested since Sunday.
The youngest case was a 7-year-old child, while the oldest was 67 years old. The new cases were distributed among 7 counties: Nairobi, Mombasa, Kilifi, Kiambu, Machakos, Kisii, and Bungoma.
