As the world grapples with the COVID-19 pandemic, e-commerce has become an essential service for consumers in urban, remote, and rural areas. Jumia, one of Africa's leading e-commerce platforms, is celebrating its 8th anniversary amidst this unprecedented context.
From June 22nd to July 5th, Jumia will launch its biggest annual commercial event, 'Jumia na Jamii – Stronger Together,' offering value for money to its customers. The campaign aims to help customers save, give a revenue boost to vendors and delivery agents, and donate Okoa Jamii food packages to families in need.
According to Jumia Kenya CEO, Sam Chappatte, 'Jumia Anniversary is a celebration of solidarity. We hope to help customers save shillings, to give a much-needed revenue boost to vendors & delivery agents, and to donate many Okoa Jamii food packages to families in need.'
The pandemic has accelerated the growth of e-commerce in Kenya, with companies turning to online channels to improve sales and compensate for disruption to traditional offline channels. As Chappatte noted, 'Shopping online is safe, convenient & gives people easy access to essential products. The Government has quickly recognised this, encouraging restaurants, shops & supermarkets to get online & provide home delivery options for their customers.'
The Jumia Anniversary campaign will feature top brands like Samsung, Xiaomi, EABL, Garnier, Maybelline, Dettol, and Jameson, offering discounts of up to 50% and hundreds of Flash Sales.
