Dear men, have you ever stopped to consider the impact of your collective silence on the women you claim to care about?
It's not uncommon for women to be taken in by a man's charming facade, only to discover later that he's been leading a double life. But what's even more hurtful is when his friends and family members enable his behavior, pretending that everything is fine when in reality, they're aware of the truth.
Some men have even gone so far as to drag their parents into this charade, presenting their partner as the ideal daughter-in-law, all while knowing that there's another woman in the picture. The mother-in-law, oblivious to the truth, showers the unsuspecting woman with affection, only to be shocked when the truth finally comes to light.
It's a painful realization, one that can leave a woman feeling like she's been taken for a ride by an entire village. The memories of being treated like a queen by a man's friends and family, only to discover that it was all a ruse, can be particularly devastating.
So, dear men, why do you enable each other's lies? Why do you call us 'shemeji' when you know that there's another woman with more points than we do? Wouldn't it be more fair if you gave us a heads up from the start, so we could take our places in the league?
And to you potential mothers-in-law, what's so hard about sitting us down and having a chat? We're like your daughters, for crying out loud! Let us know when to run, so we can avoid the heartache and humiliation that comes with being played by a whole village.
It's time for men to take responsibility for their actions and to stop enabling each other's lies. It's time for them to be honest with the women they claim to care about, and to give them the respect and dignity they deserve.
So, dear men, will you take the first step towards change? Will you blow the whistle on someone's innocent daughter, and give her the chance to take her place in the league?
