Garissa Township MP Aden Duale, a close ally of Deputy President William Ruto, has seen his privileges and perks significantly reduced following his ouster as National Assembly Majority Leader on June 22, 2020.
According to sources, Duale will no longer enjoy the hefty allowances, official cars, bodyguards, and plum office with support staff at Parliament Buildings that came with his former position.
He will also lose his office located at the main parliament buildings, extra allowance, and staff advanced to him and fully paid by the Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC).
Additionally, Duale will have to contend with reduced security and a single luxury vehicle, down from the three top-range GK vehicles he previously enjoyed.
His monthly salary of Sh1,056,000 will remain unchanged, but he will no longer be entitled to the Sh200,000 monthly allowance and responsibility allowance of about Sh138,000 monthly.
People Daily has reported that Duale will only remain with either one or two bodyguards, a significant reduction from the number of security officers he previously had.
By virtue of his new position, Duale will no longer have access to a chase car, a more lucrative car fuel card, and a further Sh300,000 monthly for hospitality.
His ouster as Majority Leader has also meant that he will no longer hold the stature that came with his former posting.
