On Monday, President Kenyatta chaired a Parliamentary Group meeting at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi, where Garissa Township MP Aden Duale was ousted as National Assembly Majority Leader.

According to Duale, he exits the office with his head held high, having overseen the passage of over 500 government bills and 200 motions during his seven-year tenure.

"I came, I saw and I conquered," Duale wrote, reflecting on his time in office. "Today marks the end of my seven years of service to the great people of Kenya as the Leader of Majority of the National Assembly. I was the first occupant of the seat under article 108 of the Constitution," he added.

Duale expressed pride in his achievements, including the enactment of bills for the implementation of the Constitution, financial legislation to implement devolution, and the Big Four Agenda.

"But like I have said before, public positions are not to be personalized," Duale said. "When you are given a position you do your best and when the time comes for you to leave, you leave with a smile," he added.

Duale thanked President Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto for giving him the opportunity to serve as the country's first NA majority leader.

"I indeed thank my party leader H.E Uhuru Kenyatta, for having given me the opportunity to serve the great people of Kenya and for this I am grateful," Duale said.

126 out of 179 Jubilee MPs had signed a petition supporting Duale's ouster, paving the way for Kipipiri MP Amos Kimunya to take over as the new Majority Leader.
