ODM leader Raila Odinga has been at the center of controversy after claims emerged that he was flown to China for medical treatment. However, the party has denied these claims, stating that Raila is currently in the Democratic Republic of Congo representing the African Union.
According to ODM's Communications Director Phillip Etale, Raila is in Kinshasa, DRC, attending a Pan African meeting on the Grand Inga project, which will be the largest hydroelectric power project in Africa.
Etale took to Twitter to clarify the situation, stating, "Mr. Raila Odinga is currently in Kinshasa, DRC representing AU in matters of Development and Infrastructure in Africa for the Pan Africa meeting on the Grand Inga project. This project will be the largest in Africa in generating power in Africa."
Despite the party's denial, it remains unclear how Raila managed to leave the country despite the government's ban on travel due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
